The Right Column can contain the same information for all pages or can be customized at the page level. The same design for the Left Column exists. It defaults to the Google Calendar of events for the Church. This is a real-time feed in that when the Google Calendar is updated, any page containing the Google Event feed is updated without any website changes. All three columns (Left, Center and Right) are independent in their height. Each column will grow to accommodate the content and then all four corners are "rounded" for an added touch. The floating marquee can be changed to have any words or message. It gives a nice background that is not too disruptive. The website redesign had many objectives but functionality and ease of maintenance had priority over a flashy appearance; 1). Utilize full screen display with floating center column; 2). Focus on organizing content; 3). Keep the menu out of the way unless needed (slide down and select menu item rather than take up screen real estate); 4). Updates to the Menu require only one file change and is populated for all pages; 5). Utilize Google as host for storage - website, calendar, maps, bulletins and sermons; Remove dependency on gbgm-umc); 6). Utilize reusable code and content; 7). Carry over Liturgical Theme and Change of Color based on Calendar Date (Color and Symbols from the current website were built into the redesign and a Bible Verse Reference added next to the Liturgical Symbol; 8). Reserve link to "blogs" for Pastor and Page Owners always fed by the most up-to-date blog content (make available for Staff, Pre-School, Youth, Committee Chairs); 9). The redesign was built on and is part of the Google Framework and will provide a platform for better communication of Staff, Committees and Congregation - See Google Offerings
